2010 Business Opportunities Workshop - Review
Over 30 ISES members and guests gathered
at the Pacific Palisades Hotel meeting rooms to once again roll up their
sleeves and attend the very informative 2010 Business Opportunities
Workshop.
Facilitator Rob Arthurs
led us through an in depth presentation on where business opportunities
lie and how to mine those opportunities via the 2010 commerce bid site.
He encouraged us to find our team
players, whether in this region or in other ISES Chapters throughout
North America, to help supply the Games with materials and services
required.
Being an ISES Vancouver member gives you
a local business advantage that you can bring to a national or
international team of ISES suppliers.
Use your ISES network and enhance the success rate of your bid
prospects.
Rob also covered sustainability issues
and had us think of various ways that our own companies can respond to
that very important section of VANOC proposal requests.
Opportunities for events are not just
happening in 2010. Athletes begin
arriving for training and test games as early as February 2008! Our facilities are being completed
ahead of schedule, and as many as 10 World Cup style games will be held
in Vancouver starting next year!
The 2010 Commerce website is also being
used by these test games; the 2009 World Police and Fireman Games; and by
official sponsor companies and off-site promotion companies to find event
companies and suppliers like you. Your businesses are needed now!
If you missed this workshop, we
encourage you to get to one in your community very soon. Visit www.2010
commercecentre.gov.bc.ca for more information and to get your business
registered online.

Demystify the RFP Bid Process

Do you know how
to respond to an RFP?
One of the
legacies of the 2010 Olympics will be an imprint and long lasting
business practice shift in the way corporations' request and bid for
business.
Expression of
Interest (EOI) and Request for Proposals (RFPs)
will become the corporate business norm in Western Canada, as it is in
the rest of the country and for government bodies. RFPs will
likely be required for the acquisition of many kinds of good and services
- including event related goods and services.
Betty MacLeod of
RBC Royal Bank, an enthusiastic sponsor of ISES Vancouver, knows that
there is a need for businesses and individuals to hone their skills on
what can initially be a daunting task.
RBC is providing
ISES members and guests with two opportunities to "Demystify the RFP
Bid Process".
Their first
workshop will run on November 20th from 8:30 AM to Noon at the
RBC Royal Bank, 1055 West Georgia Street, 33rd Floor in
Vancouver.
Seating is
limited so please contact Jan Lean at jan.lean@rbc.com or at 604-
665-0440.
ISES Vancouver is
also combining the RFP Workshop with our January 2008 meeting. More information will be available in
our next newsletter.

respond to an RFP. Do you know
how? Get more information below
on "Demystifying the RFP Bid Process" with RBC Royal Bank in
November, or attend the ISES RFP Workshop in January. Check out the BC Sesquicentennial RFP

When
Your Event Needs a Unique Entertainment Venue
How often is it that your
client asks you for suggestions on Entertainment or other Social
options for their event? In
addition to the standard Vancouver destinations, we'd like to introduce the Granville
Entertainment Group, comprising of Doolin's
Irish Pub, The Cellar Nightclub, and The Roxy Cabaret.
All three venues can
accommodate groups for special events.
Pre-concert, pre-game, post-conference, post-game, networking
reception, pub crawl, fundraisers, you name it! We especially love theme parties with
food and drink, costumes and decorated rooms. Centrally located in the famous
Granville Entertainment District, and less than a block away from each
other, we have the flexibility to host smaller groups or larger groups
in multiple venue destinations. Other options for exclusive use private
parties available are full catering services, famous flair bartending,
DJ services, and live band entertainment. We provide ticket printing,
wristbands, doormen, coatcheck; the list is
endless and we're open to your ideas. Did we mention we also have an 82
room Hotel? The Comfort Inn is
also located conveniently centrally downtown, minutes away from
shopping and entertainment.
It's definitely a true
Vancouver experience for the right group.
